CONGRATULATIONS, MADAM VICE PRESIDENT!
Women up and down the ticket fought hard in this election. Thanks to the tireless work of thousands in Washington state and around the country, we made important gains. We will continue to push for women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, human rights, and a government that more closely reflects America. We are not finished, but we are moving closer. And we did so with a record-breaking number of people casting ballots.

Women up and down the ticket fought hard in this election. Thanks to the tireless work of thousands in Washington state and around the country, we made important gains. We will continue to push for women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, human rights, and a government that more closely reflects America. We are not finished, but we are moving closer. And we did so with a record-breaking number of people casting ballots.
We know how many people volunteered and supported women running for office. This election also made clear just how prevalent discrimination, voter suppression, and deep-seated racism still are in America and our electoral systems. So many barriers were erected to discourage voting, and so many people persevered anyway. It wasn’t easy, and the burden fell disproportionately on Black women and women of color. Thank you for doing the hard work. Thank you for being a light in the fight for justice.
We have a lot of work to do. But this week we elected Kamala Harris our Vice President. This is a huge, glass-ceiling-shattering milestone for our country. We are here today because of ALL of you. Today, celebrate. Tomorrow, we get back to work.
