Last month, we facilitated one of the largest candidate trainings in our 40-year history. Over 60 women joined us for a full day of intense training and to chart out their route to public office.
Attendees hailed from across the state, which says quite a bit given the 8:00 a.m. start time. Not only was the crowd large this year, it was diverse with young women and women of color making up nearly half of our attendees.
The training covered everything from fundraising and field, to confidence and messaging. Participants heard from regional experts including Rachel Padgett on fundraising, Halei Watkins on organizing, Kristina Stambaugh on confidence and Jenn Morgan on Personal Brand. Last but not least, Maggie Humphreys, communications chair, also presented on mastering the art of the elevator speech.
We couldn’t have facilitated this group without the help of our sponsors. A big thank you goes to Argo Strategies, Oldmixon Hill, Cerillion N4 Partners, Sound View Strategies, Friends of Jeanne Kohl Welles, Karen Keiser and William Phillips. Thank you again!
If we haven’t said it enough, we’ll say it one more time to be clear: we think you should run for office. If you are still on the fence, reach out and meet one of our steering committee members for coffee. You can email us here: [email protected].
