National Women's Political Caucus of Washington

The final count is still being tallied--but there is good news

If the last four years have taught us nothing else, they have given us deep wells of endurance, persistence, tenacity and resolve. We always knew we needed to wait for every vote to count--and that’s what we are going to do.

While we stay optimistic about the results of our Presidential election, we are honored to report some great outcomes for our endorsed women candidates and races here in Washington state.

Nearly 70 percent of our endorsed women candidates across Washington State are winning--59 out of 85!

  • April Berg, running for the State House to represent the 44th Legislative District, which includes the cities of Mill Creek, Snohomish, Lake Stevens and Marysville, has blown the opposition out of the water with 53.75%.

  • T'wina Nobles, running for State Senate, narrowly leads a republican male incumbent with 51.75% to represent communities in Pierce County in Legislative District 28.  If elected, she’ll be the only Black senator and Black woman serving in the Washington State Senate.

  • Tanisha Harris, running for State House to represent eastern Vancouver and southwest Clark County has a lead over her opponent with 51.19% of the vote in a tight swing district!

  • Ingrid Anderson, running for State Senate in Legislative District 5 (Issaquah) in one of the state’s most competitive and expensive races, has a narrow lead over the male incumbent with 49.71% of the vote!

  • Angie Homola running for the State House and Helen Price Johnson running for the State Senate to represent the 10th Legislative District, which includes areas in North Snohomish County, are both narrowly leading their male incumbents with 51.1% and 50.84%, respectively.

  • Tarra Simmons, running for the State House, has blown away the opposition with 64.63%. She is likely headed to Olympia to represent communities in northern Kitsap County and Bainbridge Island.

  • And a huge congrats to Kirsten Harris-Talley (State Rep. LD 37) with 66.57%, Jamila Taylor (State Rep. LD 30) with 59.07%, and former NWPC-WA president Liz Berry (State Rep. LD 36) with 58.14% of the vote. I’m excited to have her join me in the legislature, as I proudly report that I am leading in the 38th Legislative District with 60.69%!
  • Statewide, Referendum 90 is passing with strong support! This means that schools in Washington will be required to teach comprehensive sex education that teaches affirmative consent and includes LGBTQ+ youth. This is huge for the health and safety of young people in Washington!
