National Women’s Political Caucus Stands Against Abortion Restrictions Nationwide

Carolyn Long wants to talk about the power of losing. About how campaigning is a journey, not just a destination. About how keeping an eye on the broader reasons for running for office — serving the public, inspiring others, enacting a shared vision — can help keep a loss in perspective.

According to the CDC, “In the United States, more than 8 in 10 mothers begin breastfeeding their babies at birth – but many stop earlier than is recommended.” One contributing factor to this may be the work environment women return to after giving birth.

“Why are items like Pop-Tarts and Rogaine not taxed, but tampons are?” That’s a good question and one that has started to gain attention from policy-makers nationwide.

Why has the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington been working for over 40 years to recruit, train, and elect women to office in Washington state? Because when women lead, all women win. With that in mind, we are tracking 2019 legislation that would have a significant impact on the lives of Washington women.

Last night, something pretty remarkable happened in America. 

Each year, as the election comes to a close, we ask our endorsed women candidates to nominate a woman who helped them on their campaign. Our candidates nominate campaign managers, brilliant strategists, high school door-belling volunteers, and even their moms or daughters. Here's our list for 2018.
